Privacy policy

The short version. LiftingView has no account, no server of its own and no analytics. Your exercises, photos and workouts stay in the app's private storage on your phone, and the app sends none of it anywhere. The developer never receives your data, so there is nothing about you for them to hold.
1. Who is responsible
The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the app and this website is:

2. What the app does
LiftingView is a strength log for Android. You photograph a gym machine (or just name an exercise), log the weight and reps of each set, and the app charts whether you are getting stronger. It is free, has no advertising and needs no account.
3. What stays on your phone
Everything you create is kept in the app's private storage, which Android withholds from other apps:
- Exercises: the name you give each one and, if you add one, its photo. A picture you take with the camera or choose from your gallery is copied into the app's own folder; the original in your gallery is left untouched.
- Workouts: the date of each session, the weight and repetitions of every set, and the rest you measured before a set.
- Settings: theme, weight unit and chart spacing.
None of this is uploaded, synced or shared. The app contains no code that sends it anywhere.
4. What is never collected
- No account, email address, password or profile.
- No analytics, usage statistics, crash reporting SDK or advertising, and no advertising identifier.
- No location, contacts, calendar or microphone.
- No health data from other apps or wearables.
- No payment information: nothing in the app costs money.
5. Android backup
If you have turned on Android's own backup to your Google account, Android may include the app's data (your workouts and photos) in that backup, so it can be restored on a new phone. That backup is created by Android, stored in your Google account, and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. The developer cannot see or access it. You can switch backup off in Android's settings under Google → Backup.
6. Permissions

| Other declared permissions | Libraries inside the app also declare launcher badge permissions (to show a count on the app icon on some phones), a Google messaging permission for push notifications and a Play install referrer permission. The app has no server, never registers for push messages and never reads the install referrer, so none of these sends or receives anything. |
The app does not request the microphone, location, contacts or permission to draw over other apps.
7. Google Play
When you install or update LiftingView from Google Play, Google processes the data that requires, under the Google Privacy Policy. Google gives the developer only aggregated statistics, such as install counts and ratings, and, if you have allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics with Google, anonymous crash reports (device model, Android version and where the app failed). None of this identifies you to the developer.
8. This website
These pages are static files served from a virtual server the developer rents from Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus, in a data centre in the EU. Hostinger processes data only on the developer's behalf, under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR); see the Hostinger Privacy Policy.
When you open a page, your browser sends the server your IP address, the page it wants and technical details such as your browser type. The server needs these to deliver the page, which is the legitimate interest it is processed for (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The server keeps no access log, so these details are gone once the page has been delivered.
The site uses no cookies, no local storage, no analytics and no tracking, and it loads nothing from other servers: its fonts are served from this site. Connections are encrypted with HTTPS.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
- Your data stays on your phone until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all of it, including the photos.
- Deleting an exercise deletes its sessions, sets and photo with it.
- An Android backup in your Google account (section 5) is managed in your Google account.
- The developer holds nothing to keep or delete, because nothing is sent to them.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21). Because the developer receives no personal data from the app, there is normally nothing stored on which to act, but write to Mr-Brogrammer@outlook.com and every request will be answered.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU country where you live or work. The authority responsible for the developer is:

Your data is never sold or shared for advertising, and no automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
11. Children
LiftingView is not directed at children under 16. Since the app collects no data at all, it holds no data about children either.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. Any change to what leaves your phone will be stated plainly here.
